THE LOGISTICS CHALLENGES

In 2019 they opened a new manufacturing unit in Maerne di Martellago (in the province of Venice, Italy), established to respond to the strong growth being registered in EMEA countries and also to support international development by increasing production and logistics capacity.  Within this new plant, however, it became essential to rationalize the internal logistics flow, monitor the stock status and optimize space that could be used for other activities. The aim was also to make the manufacturing site safer and more comfortable for staff, in line with the principles of Lean Manufacturing and the Smart Factory.

THE SOLUTION

The solution installed by ICAM involves 2 Vertical Lift Modules which can provide automated storage and serve the assembly lines. One SILO² multi-column Vertical Lift Module for the storage of parts and components such as gearboxes and motors, and small parts. A second SILOXL Vertical Lift Module was installed to hold bars and profiles and replace the previous traditional solutions, which used fixed shelving and racking.
