An extra gear for Sirmec’s spare parts warehouse, a Stellantis affiliate, thanks to the SILO² VLMs
THE COMPANY
Sirmec is an Automotive spare parts distribution hub of the Stellantis Group, headquartered in Senise, Basilicata, with a branch in Cagliari, Sardinia.
The company was established in 2018 with the launch of the Distrigo project by the PSA Group. Later, in 2023, following the merger with FCA, Sirmec became the official distributor of original spare parts for the 9 brands of the Stellantis Group: Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, DS, Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, Jeep, and Abarth.
THE LOGISTICS CHALLENGES
Over the years, in response to the establishment of the Stellantis Group and the consequent significant increase in the range of spare parts to be distributed, the company decided to invest in a new and larger facility within which to redesign its intralogistics processes with a 4.0 perspective.
THE SOLUTION
With the aim of improving efficiency, precision and picking speed in order to increase the performance of order consolidation activities, in the new Senise facility, 6 SILO² VLMs are then installed, strategically positioned in pairs and facing each other, to create real work islands.
All SILO²s consist of 3 storage columns and two side-by-side picking/storage stations, all equipped with IRIDE, the system that guides operators during picking activities, step by step, making it impossible to make any mistakes.
