Our tailor-made multi-column automated vertical lift module

Thanks to the installation of a vertical storage system, GLS have been able to benefit from a number of advantages.  The first undoubtedly relates to savings in terms of human resources and therefore the overall cost of labour for the company. In addition, there has also been a reduction in the queues that formed as customers waited to collect their packages. Another advantage has been the possibility to automatically manage the storage system.  Lastly, we have been able to increase the level of security for the goods we store.  Today these packages are safely stored inside the SILO², where they are protected from any unauthorized access, but above all from the dust and dirt that are commonly found in a warehouse environment.  

Following installation of the SILO² VLMs, the warehouse operators working day has greatly improved,  In addition, there has been a notable saving in terms of space, which has allowed about two thirds of the warehouse racking to be eliminated.  A small part of some special types of materials are still stored on traditional racking, such as the low turnover items or those for which it is necessary to hold a very large stock. In general, however, a considerable amount of space has been freed up and this has been extremely important for the future of the company.

The implementation of SILO² hasn’t just been a way to optimize our processes, it has been like a giant leap forward, because time spent searching for items is wasted time and increases costs unnecessarily. Thanks to SILO² Alidaunia has seen enormous benefits because any savings in time mean greater optimization of human resources and an increased accuracy and safety in operations, of course.

In the past, it would have taken about an hour, an hour and a half to prepare a recipe, depending on the type of the recipe; now, thanks to the SILO² VLM and some automated dispensers, it requires only 40 / 50 minutes, with a drastic reduction in time and operating costs and consequently an increase in productivity.

To keep up with the high expectations of our customers, the investment in the new plant together with the automation of the intralogistics processes thanks to the ICAM’s Vertical Lift Modules will enable us to increase productivity, reduce delivery lead times and strengthen our long-term supply chain.

Before the SILO², the accessories were stored on static racking. The manual handling of items and the paper-based stock management, made the order fulfillment  process very slow and not reliable. Now, thanks to SILO² Vertical Lift Module, ESEN FU has also improved the accuracy of the inventory control because all the stored items are always under control
