In the production of made-to-measure awnings and pergolas, managing fabric rolls is a critical process: each roll has a specific type, color, and size and must be available at the right time to avoid slowing down production and extending delivery times.
Pratic has installed the SILO² VLM to consolidate the entire fabric inventory in a compact space, with structural protection from dust and humidity and real-time visibility of every stock item via ICON integrated with the company ERP.

Pratic: made-to-order awnings and pergolas since 1960

Founded in Udine in 1960 by brothers Bruno and Giuseppe Orioli, Pratic designs and manufactures outdoor coverings, pergolas and awnings with a focus on innovation and product excellence. Its range includes design awnings for sun protection and tailor-made wood and aluminum pergolas, solutions that require precise, organized fabric management by type, color and size from the production stage onward.

The logistical challenges

Catalog growth and increasing production volumes had made fabric roll management increasingly challenging:

  • Insufficient storage space for the growing number of fabric rolls to be managed.
  • Traditional racking could no longer keep up with the speed required by the market: slow handling had a direct impact on delivery times.
  • No structured protection against dust, humidity and unauthorized access.
  • No real-time stock visibility: limited awareness of available inventory at any given moment.

SILO² for fabric rolls: protected vertical storage with dual access openings

SILO² makes full use of the available 9.2 m height, with 2 storage columns providing a total capacity of 65.4 m³ in just 23.11 m² of floor space. Each 1,953 × 1,288 mm tray stores fabric rolls measuring 1,200 mm in length and 230 mm in diameter.
The 2 side-by-side picking and refilling stations, one of them telescopic, ensure fast, simultaneous access: one operator can refill while another picks, without interference or waiting time.
The fully enclosed structure protects fabrics from dust, humidity and unauthorized access throughout the entire storage period.

ICON is integrated with the company ERP and tracks every inbound and outbound operation in real time. Stock visibility is immediate and always up to date: no manual inventory, no roll out of control. Every movement is recorded and linked to the corresponding item by type, color and size.
