Profiles, bars, tubes, extrusions: every long material has its own storage logic. MAXIL knows it.
MAXIL is ICAM’s vertical automated storage system designed specifically for long and heavy materials, without compromise on load capacity, flexibility and operational continuity: from 1,000 to 3,000 kg per drawer, materials up to 7 metres in length, structure scalable in height over time. Installed outside the facility, with the motorized shuttle travelling through the base of the system, it enables direct loading from the outside and retrieval from the inside eliminating forklift transit between the yard and the plant entirely.
Why MAXIᴸ is the right choice for your long materials
MAXIᴸ is designed to integrate into the most demanding production processes, where load capacity, configuration flexibility and operational continuity are not optional.
-
STRONG
Load capacity from 1,000 to 3,000 kg per drawer, in two versions: with and without base. Load-securing bars can be integrated to protect material stability and keep loads separated.
-
LARGE
Drawers available in widths up to 7,100 mm and various depths. Profiles, bars, tubes, moulds, cores and semi-finished goods find their ideal, protected storage space.
-
EXPANDABLE
The self-supporting steel structure grows in height via 500 mm incremental modules, up to 15 metres. The initial investment evolves with volumes without replacing the system.
-
CONFIGURABLE
Fixed station or motorized shuttle, with access on all four sides: indoor or outdoor. Multiple units installable in series or in parallel, sharing a single motorized shuttle for a distributed automation investment.
-
ERGONOMIC
Automatic load ejectors and protection devices ensure maximum ergonomics and operational safety when handling heavy and bulky loads, compatible with overhead cranes, anthropomorphic robots and servo-assisted systems.
-
CONNECTED
For high-value materials such as certified profiles for aerospace, automotive or structural metalwork, full traceability by code, batch and order is not an option, it’s a requirement. ICON delivers this in real time, connected to the factory systems already in use.
ICON, the intelligent mind behind MAXIᴸ
All the details about MAXIᴸ
How it works
MAXIᴸ consists of two opposing storage towers housing the drawers on internal guide rails. At the centre, an automated lift manages drawer transfer to the load/unload stations. Depending on the chosen configuration, the drawer is delivered via fixed station or motorized shuttle positioning it in the optimal orientation for the production flow and facilitating retrieval by forklift, robot or servo-assisted systems.
The entire process is governed by ICON: from material selection to the calculation of the optimal mission sequence, from recording every operation to traceability by batch and order. Integration with WMS and ERP makes MAXIᴸ an active node in the production flow, not a passive storage unit at the side of the line.
-
01
Step 1: Drawer request
The operator selects the material via the command console, integrated with WMS and ERP via ICON. The mission is dispatched with no manual searching. -
02
Step 2: Automatic drawer retrieval
The extractor identifies the correct drawer between the two storage columns and transfers it to the load/unload station. -
03
Step 3: Drawer presented at load/unload station
With a fixed station the drawer is directly accessible. With the motorised shuttle with automatic load lifting and extraction system, it is positioned at the optimal front for retrieval by forklift or robot. -
04
Step 4: Material picking or loading
The operator accesses the drawer safely at ergonomic height. Automatic ejectors facilitate the loading of heavy materials, eliminating manual operations with high ergonomic risk. -
05
Step 5: Confirmation and full traceability
Every movement recorded in ICON: code, batch, quantity, operator. Real-time inventory available for reporting and integration with company systems. -
06
Step 6: Drawer return and mission close
The drawer is repositioned at the optimal storage location. ICON archives the completed mission.
Technical Specifications
Structure and modularity
MAXI L is built from self-supporting steel with two opposing storage towers. The structure is designed for indoor and outdoor installations, in single, series or parallel configuration. Height expansion is achieved via incremental 500 mm modules, added to the existing structure.
Drawer
Drawers are available in five useful widths and in versions with or without base, depending on the type of material to be handled. Maximum load capacity is selectable at the bidding stage from 1,000 to 3,000 kg
Storage system
System dimensions vary based on the number of towers and drawer width selected. The system is available in standard widths of 4,173 mm or 7,773 mm, with depth and height configurable to the project.

Configuration
MAXIᴸ Configuration
MAXIᴸ has no standard configuration. It is installed where needed, in the direction needed, across as many levels as needed. Four configurations to meet four different space and process requirements.
Outdoor installation
Series installation
Parallel installation
Multi-floor
Optionals
Motorised shuttle with automatic load lifting and extraction system
Material is loaded directly from the truck outside and made available to the operator inside, with no forklift movements between yard and facility. The result is a faster, safer flow with less risk of material damage during handling. In indoor configuration, the motorised shuttle reduces the footprint of the loading area, moves drawers in any direction and integrates multiple machines into a single automated system.
The right choice when MAXIᴸ must feed CNC lines, robots or servo-assisted systems directly.
