To create a direct link between the 7th edition of PhEST – See Beyond the Sea and ICAM, the shots of the photographer Mattia Balsamini, guest of the company for the artistic residency program “The Future in Puglia”. The images will be on display outdoors at the Porto Vecchio in Monopoli, in Puglia, from 9th September to 1st November 2022.

ICAM confirms its proximity to the world of art and culture and to its territory by supporting and sponsorship of PhEST – See Beyond the Sea, the international photography and art festival, scheduled from 9th September to 1st November, in the evocative setting of Monopoli (BA) in Puglia.

“FUTURE” is the main theme of the 7th edition of the event conceived and directed by Mr Giovanni Troilo, in collaboration with the curator Mrs Arianna Rinaldo, who will transform the streets, spaces and buildings of the city into an open-air exhibition, bringing the best of photography and art from all over the world: the 2022 edition will host about 30 exhibitions by some of the most renowned artists of different nationalities (Holland, England, USA, India, Turkey, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Belgium, and others), 3 artistic residencies and free portfolio readings with some of the most influential experts in the sector.

The shots of Mr Mattia Balsamini, one of the most popular emerging photographers on the international scene, will seal the link between ICAM and PhEST, with an unpublished work in an artistic residency on “Il Futuro in Puglia”.

After studying advertising photography at the Brooks Institute in Los Angeles, in 2010 Mr Balsamini began working at David LaChapelle’s studio. In 2011 he returned to Italy after earning a BA with honorable mention. Since then, he has taught photography at the IUAV University of Venice as well as extensively photographing technology and its sociological implications, focusing his attention on work as a factor of human identity. Over the years he has carried out personal and editorial projects for institutions such as MIT, NASA and the Institute of Forensic Medicine University of Zurich.

His images reveal an interest in people and their stories, the functional aspects of technology and the graphic elements of the ordinary. He has exhibited at the Milan Triennale, at MAXXI, at the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation and at the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco.

At ICAM, we believe that culture and art are the engines of sustainable social and economic development and a tool for dialogue for sharing visions and promoting social cohesion.” commented Elisabet Fasano, Chief Marketing Officer of ICAM, adding “The photographic image can help to design new landscapes with the meaning of territorial identity and restore the idea that in addition to the places of tourism, in Puglia there is a lot of technology, there are the skills and professionals of the future. The 2022 edition of PhEST goes in this direction.”

The reportage by Mattia Balsamini will be on display outdoors at the Porto Vecchio in Monopoli.
