Master Group installed ICAM’s COMPATTA mobile racking system at its Conversano facility to centralize pallet and window and door accessory management, doubling storage capacity within the same available space.

The logistical challenges
As volumes and managed item codes grew, palletized material management had reached its limits: saturated traditional racking, pallets stored on the floor and increasingly slow handling made it impossible to continue working with a traditional logic.
The main critical issues were:
- Bins and pallets stored on traditional racking or directly on the floor: no systematic organization.
- Significant floor space wasted in the storage area.
- Inefficiencies and slowdowns in searching, picking and forklift handling operations.
- Storage capacity no longer adequate for the growth in volumes and managed item codes.
COMPATTA for pallets and window and door accessories: double capacity, single aisle on demand
Master Group’s COMPATTA mobile racking system consists of 11 electromechanically driven mobile bases arranged in two blocks of 7 and 4 bases, each 26 m long, with pallet racking rising over 7 m high. In 1,220 m² of system footprint, COMPATTA provides 4,326 pallet locations: up to twice the capacity achievable with static racking in the same space.
The bases move to open a single operating aisle at the required position: the 2 warehouse operators access the required pallets directly by forklift, without travelling through empty aisles. The operating flow: 170 daily movements, with loading/unloading in around 40 seconds per pallet.
