ICAM at VETECO 2026 Madrid: automated storage systems for the window and door industry

Event

From November 10 to 13, 2026, ICAM will exhibit at VETECO, the international trade fair for windows, façades and solar protection. At Hall 8, Stand 8B21, ICAM will showcase MAXIᴸ, its automated vertical storage system for profiles and bars, alongside SILO², its multi-column Vertical Lift Module (VLM).

ICAM will be exhibiting at VETECO 2026, held at IFEMA MADRID, to present its automated storage solutions for the window and door industry. From aluminium and PVC profiles to metal bars, hardware, seals, hinges and other components, ICAM automated storage systems are designed to handle the wide range of materials used in this sector. They help manufacturers and distributors make better use of available space while improving production and logistics efficiency.

VETECO 2026: innovation and technology for the window and door industry

VETECO is an international trade fair specialising in windows, façades, glass and solar protection systems. It brings together window and door manufacturers, profile and accessory distributors, installers, architects, designers and construction professionals.

The 2024 edition attracted over 46,700 trade visitors and more than 350 exhibiting companies. In 2026, VETECO will take place as part of International Construction Week, with a programme focused on innovation, digitalisation, sustainability and process efficiency.

Against this backdrop, we will present ICAM automated storage systems designed to handle materials that vary widely in size, weight and picking requirements, from long profiles to the preparation of accessory and component kits for window and door assembly.

MAXIᴸ: ICAM automated storage system for profiles and bars up to 7.1 metres long and 3,000 kg per drawer

Designed for companies involved in window and door manufacturing and processing, MAXIᴸ is ICAM’s automated vertical storage system for long and heavy materials, including aluminium and PVC profiles, bars, tubes, extrusions and semi-finished products.

MAXIᴸ features drawers with a usable width of up to 7,100 mm and a load capacity of up to 3,000 kg each. The system can reach a standard height of 15 metres, with a total load capacity of up to 80 tonnes.

One of MAXIᴸ’s key strengths is its highly configurable design, allowing the system to adapt to available space and production workflows. It can be equipped with a fixed access station or a motorised shuttle, configured for access from all four sides, and installed either indoors or outdoors.

In configurations with external access, the motorised shuttle travels through the base of the storage system, allowing materials to be loaded directly from a truck in the yard and made available inside the production area. This eliminates the need for forklifts to travel between the yard and the facility. The system can also support the feeding of production equipment, such as cutting lines and CNC machining centres, connecting automated storage directly with profile processing operations.

For higher storage volumes and more complex production workflows, multiple units can be installed in series or in parallel, sharing a single motorised shuttle for drawer handling. This shared-shuttle configuration helps optimise the investment. MAXIᴸ can also be extended vertically, allowing storage capacity to grow as future requirements evolve.

At VETECO 2026, ICAM will showcase MAXIᴸ equipped with a motorised shuttle and automatic drawer ejectors that facilitate forklift loading and unloading. Integrated safety devices help protect handling operations, while compatibility with overhead cranes, articulated robots and power-assisted handling systems allows the solution to be adapted to different production requirements.

SILO²: automated storage for window and door hardware, accessories and spare parts

Beyond storing bulky materials, window and door manufacturers also need to manage a wide variety of smaller components and accessories, including hinges, handles, locks, seals, roller shutter straps, screws, fasteners, metal fittings, spare parts and electronic components such as control units and devices for automated doors and windows.

For these applications, ICAM offers SILO², its multi-column Vertical Lift Module (VLM), designed to optimise storage space, speed up picking and refilling operations, improve material traceability and protection, and reduce picking errors.

Available in configurations with 2 to 7 storage columns, SILO² can reach a standard height of 15 metres and offers 120 tray sizes, with load capacities of up to 400 kg per tray.

At VETECO, visitors will be able to experience a three-column SILO² VLM equipped with a telescopic picking / refilling station and IRIDE, ICAM’s interactive multimedia system. The telescopic picking / refilling station makes it easier to handle large or heavy items and supports integration with manipulators, articulated robots and automated loading and unloading systems. IRIDE guides operators through light-based instructions and information displayed directly at the picking station. This makes it easier to identify and pick the correct items, helps prevent errors and reduces operator training time.

ICAM’s experience in warehouse automation for the window and door industry

With an established international presence, ICAM develops automated storage solutions tailored to the specific requirements of the window and door industry. In Spain, where ICAM has completed numerous installations, notable projects include those for FASSA HISPANIA S.A.U. and Prometal Canarias.

For Prometal Canarias, ICAM installed a multi-level MAXIᴸ system with external material access stations on two levels. Positioned close to the profile cutting line, the system allows the machine to be supplied directly from the storage area. This installation demonstrates how automated storage can be integrated into production workflows.
