The logistical challenges

As its omnichannel strategy evolved, Würth Italia needed a service model that was available beyond traditional opening hours and less dependent on in-store staffing.

 

The objective was to create a retail concept that combined accessibility, operational continuity and the flexibility to expand into new locations quickly and efficiently.

The core requirements were:

  • allow purchases and order collections at any time of day or night
  • integrate the e-commerce channel with the physical point of sale
  • eliminate waiting times and delivery constraints
  • guarantee immediate product availability
  • deliver a fully autonomous purchasing experience

Relocatable outdoor SafeBox container: rapid deployment with no building work required

Installed inside a 13 metre relocatable outdoor container, SafeBox combines durability, flexibility and rapid deployment. Designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and vandalism, the modular structure can be installed without building work in industrial districts, commercial areas or urban locations and relocated whenever required.
A protective canopy at the In-Out Point ensures continuous operation in all weather conditions.

More than 6,000 SKUs managed, including temperature controlled items

The assortment includes around 1,800 products with widely varying dimensions, weights and packaging formats, ranging from metal and plastic fasteners to tools, chemical products and personal protective equipment.
Some products require temperature controlled storage and are managed through an integrated climate control system. Real-time visibility of inventory and sales performance helps optimise the product assortment and streamline replenishment activities.

One location, three fulfilment options: direct purchase, QR code collection and bike courier delivery

Customers can buy directly from the Würth Automatic Store by selecting items on the touchscreen display and paying by card, or collect products purchased online. After payment, they receive a personal QR code on their smartphone, which they scan to collect the goods automatically, whenever and wherever it is most convenient for them. Alternatively, customers can request delivery by bike courier, thanks to the service integration within the platform.
Integration with Würth’s order management and logistics systems ensures a seamless omnichannel experience, fully aligned with the customer journey developed in collaboration with Hevolus Innovation.
